Last night I went over my entire one hour movie to just group clips together (group titles and movie clips) and I saved the movie.
I just reopened the project and all track/clip groups were gone. I checked save date and it had an old date. Then I just tried again, creating one group of multi track clip + title. I saved the project, but after reopening the file the grouping was indeed gone. Also the modified date of the project did not change. So it looks like Pinnacle Studio does not save a project correctly when you only create groups and change nothing else in the project.
Addition : when only grouping clips together there is no * next to the project title (xyz.axp), so indeed Pinnacle Studio does not see grouping clips as a project change.
